CD to MP3 Maker
CD to MP3 Maker is a simple tool to convert CD audio to MP3. As a bonus, the program will also convert MP3 to WAV for making audio CDs.
The program's interface is similar to other programs. The icons representing the various functions seem a little difficult to understand but upon mouseover a more complete explantion of their use is given. As for the functions, the ripper is very quick with the default error correction option. Unless you tell it to do otherwise, the program will convert your ripped WAV file automatically to MP3 using the LAME encoder. For better MP3 quality, increase the bitrate to 160kbps or above in the MP3 settings option under the settings pull down menu.
Overall, CD to MP3 Maker is a decent little program that uses some good technology in a program that takes up little room on your hard drive. It does everything you would want except CD burning (MP3 CD Burner is recommended for that). Windows NT and 2000 users will probably need to download and install an ASPI manager for the program to work correctly. The trial download lets you rip and encode a limited number of tracks before you must register.
