Poiksoft has been in the MP3 converting business for a long time
and claims it was the first ripper to be able to save in the MP3 format back in
December of 1997. All that aside, the recent version of Easy CDDA
Extractor is a good one.
Although the trial version allows only a limited number of uses, you will be able
to test enough features to see if it is right for you. If you are looking
for a program that does it all, it should be. The program flawlessly
records data from your CDs and saves them in MP3 or WAVE format depending on
your choice. It also provides WMA, VQF, OGG Vorbis and other format
support. The encoding engine is provided by LAME which ensures top
quality. The decoder is quick and accurate and does exactly what you would
expect without a hitch. One difficulty was finding how to access Easy
Audio CD Creator from inside the program. However, access to this burning
program was available from the Start Menu or an icon on your desktop.
The interface to the program is very easy to use and burning
utility reminded me of Easy CD Creator. Overall, I haven't yet found a problem
with this program and it gets a good recommendation here. (Review Updated 7/1/2003)
