Fast CD Ripper is a new product from Litex Media, added to the ranks of Advanced WMA Workshop and All to WMA Converter. The benefit of registering these programs is free upgrades for life, a feature that many software developers charge for.

To complete its tasks of ripping and encoding, Fast CD Ripper uses AKrip, an open source ripper with great jitter correction that produces accurate WAV files and fast speeds. The lastest release of the software includes a feature that will rip to memory, creating faster digital audio extraction than ever before. The program will encode to a variety of file formats including MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis. LAME v.3.89 encoder is included in the software and produces some very nice MP3 audio files.

Overall, the program performed well in sound tests. The ripping was quick and the finished product was nice. The CDDB lookup worked well and you have the option of how you want the file names to be created upon encode. The only drawbacks that were noticed were a couple of instances of the program crashing on my Win2000 machine but then worked fine when I reopened the program. It is fairly new software so I suspect bug fixes will be worked out in time. I recommend downloading and trying this program.
