Music Match Jukebox has long been considered a major player in
MP3 software. It's popularity is largely due to good marketing, nice
design, and a load of features. In fact, Music Match doesn't want you to
use any other software for MP3.
The free Music Match Jukebox version is good, you will get a
lot for your money although the slow burn speed may drive you nuts. Upgrading to the full version is the big debate.
Music Match Jukebox Plus offers faster ripping and burning as well as CD label making and a
bunch of other jazz. The big drawback to the full version is once you buy
it, you will still have to pay for future upgrades unless you want to spend an
extra right up front. If you are going to upgrade to the full version, I
definitely recommend getting the lifetime updates if you are convinced this is
the one program you want to use. Other small drawbacks
are the installed file size is large and Music Match is annoyingly sluggish when
trying to advance the tracks.
All that aside, Music Match is a solid program. The
ripper is good and the encoding engine is Fraunhofer's FastEnc. Burning is
adequate although average in speed compared to the other programs out
there. The equalizer is nice and gives good sound but only available in
the full version. Bottom line is that Music Match's features are average or above but
not the best that the market has to offer. If you are looking for one
piece of software to do it all, this is the best choice I have found. However, if you
want excellence in every feature, you will have to sort through other programs.
